Sometimes the DBS raises a query on an application.

You may receive an email titled “Urgent DBS Application Query”.

This often means:

  • The application may need to be withdrawn

  • Because incorrect or inconsistent information was submitted.

3.1 How You Respond to a DBS Query

Even if the application may be withdrawn, you must still respond to the query.

  1. Reply to the Urgent DBS Application Query email.

  2. Provide the information requested so it can be passed to the DBS.

This response helps:

  • Resolve the query on the current application.

  • Support any future application the applicant may need to submit.

3.2 If the Applicant Will No Longer Work for You

If, at the query stage, the applicant will no longer be working for you:

  1. Reply to the query email.

  2. Clearly state:

    • That the applicant will no longer be working for you.

    • The reason for this, if appropriate.

    • Whether you would like the application to be withdrawn.

This allows the DBS and uCheck to process the application correctly in line with your decision.
