How a Manual Certificate Looks and Is Produced

A manual certificate:

  • Looks different to an automated DBS certificate (layout and style may vary).

  • Is produced at the end of the application process, when the status reaches “DBS certificate printed”.

When producing manual certificates, the DBS:

  • Carries out extra quality assurance checks.

  • This means the application may remain at the “DBS certificate printed” stage longer than for automated certificates.

You can still:

  • Track the progress of the application using the DBS tracking service while it is in process.
