How long Right to Work Checks take

B

The time a Right to Work Check takes depends on:

  • Which document you use, and

  • Whether the Platform can verify it electronically.

You always receive a summary certificate quickly once the check is recorded.

Checks using a passport (electronic verification)

If you carry out a Right to Work Check using a passport:

  • The Platform will usually attempt to verify the document electronically.

  • In some cases, the passport cannot be verified electronically.

    • This can happen for several reasons, such as the country of issue or other document-specific factors.

When electronic verification runs successfully:

  • The process usually takes between 5 minutes and 1 hour.

Checks using other Right to Work documents

If you use other acceptable Right to Work documents, such as a:

  • Birth certificate, or

  • Other non-passport evidence,

then:

  • The data storage and secure auditing of the check in the Platform is almost instant.

  • You can quickly download a summary certificate once you have recorded the document and completed the check.
