Who provides the DBS certificate

Clarify that DBS/Disclosure Scotland print and post the certificate to the current address on the application, and how applicants contact DBS if it doesn’t arrive.

Written by Ben Nicholas

The DBS (or Disclosure Scotland for Scottish checks):

The DBS is responsible for issuing physical certificates for Basic DBS checks, ensuring they are sent to the appropriate address provided during the application process. Digital copies of DBS certificates are not typically provided. If you require an electronic certificate, this must be requested before the check is submitted.

It is important to ensure that the address provided during the application process is accurate to avoid delivery issues, such as certificates being sent to the wrong address. If your certificate has not arrived, you can contact the DBS helpline at 03000 200 190 to request a reissue.

  • Prints and posts the DBS certificate

The certificate is sent to:

  • The current address recorded on the application form

If you have not received your certificate:

  1. Check that the address you gave on the application is correct

  2. If it is and the certificate has not arrived after a reasonable time, call DBS on 03000 200 190 to discuss next steps For further assistance, you can also visit the official DBS website for additional resources and support.

uCheck does not print or post DBS certificates. Additionally, uCheck does not offer the option to generate digital certificates or provide authorization codes for online access.
