Regulated Activity With Children (Frequency-Based)

Written by Ben Nicholas

Other activities only count as regulated activity if they meet a frequency condition.

These activities include:

  • Teaching, training, instructing, mentoring, coaching, caring for, or supervising children

  • Providing advice or guidance to children about:

    • Educational wellbeing

    • Emotional wellbeing

    • Physical wellbeing

  • Moderating a web service used by children

  • Driving a vehicle for children

To be regulated activity, these types of activities must be carried out regularly (for example, on a frequent or intensive basis as defined by DBS guidance).

Example Roles (Frequency-Based)

Example roles that may be regulated activity if they meet the frequency criteria:

  • Teacher

  • Mentor

  • Driver (for children)

  • Online forum moderator (for services used by children)

  • Coach

You must check the frequency against the DBS rules to confirm whether the role is regulated activity.
