What Happens After You Respond to a DBS Query

Learn what DBS does after uCheck forwards your full query response, including when an application may be withdrawn with no refund and when you must submit a new check.

Once uCheck receives a substantive (complete) response:

  1. uCheck emails your response to the DBS.

  2. The DBS reviews your answers and decides:

    • Whether the information is sufficient and correct, or

    • Whether there is an error in the original application.

If the DBS confirms the application information is incorrect Address discrepancies are a common example of incorrect information that can lead to application withdrawal.

If the DBS confirms that information on the application form is incorrect: This includes cases where the address history provided does not match the records confirmed during the DBS query.

  • The DBS will not amend the existing application.

  • Instead, the current application will be withdrawn.

  • The fee for that application will be forfeited (no refund). This policy underscores the importance of submitting accurate and complete information in the initial application.

If you still need a DBS check for the applicant:

  • You must submit a new application with the correct information. To ensure accuracy, double-check all details, including address history, and refer to official documents like utility bills or bank statements.
